Recovery
When it comes to living an active and healthy lifestyle, we often focus on the physical aspects such as workouts, diet, and rest. However, there is one crucial component that is often overlooked—recovery.
Recovery is a vital part of any fitness journey. It refers to the time and techniques used to allow our bodies to repair and regenerate after a workout. It is the key to getting the most benefit out of our workouts, improving our performance, and reducing stress and tension in our everyday lives.

Recovery is the time and techniques your body uses to repair and adapt after exercise. Building recovery into your routine can help you feel less sore, stay consistent with training, and come back ready for your next workout. Bay Club Recovery centers give members tools to make that part of every club visit.
No. The Recovery center is a self-guided amenity for general post-workout recovery, with team members available to help you get started. It is not medical treatment.
If you're new, start with NormaTec boots or a HydroMassage® chair. Both are easy to use and take 10 minutes. Ask a Bay Club associate to set you up and suggest a routine based on your workout.
NormaTec boots are air-compression sleeves that you wear on your legs. They inflate and release in a pattern that massages the muscles and supports blood flow and circulation after a workout. At Bay Club, you sit back and relax in the boots for a 10-minute session.
The Hypervolt is a handheld percussion massage device. It delivers rapid pulses to a specific muscle group, such as calves, quads or shoulders, to relieve tightness after training. Bay Club team members can show you how to use it and which attachment to choose.
The CryoLounge+ is a hot and cold therapy chair available in Bay Club Recovery centers. It applies targeted cold and heat while you sit, as a more comfortable alternative to an ice bath or gas cryotherapy. You can choose a preset program or customize the settings on the touch screen.
It offers cold therapy without getting in the water. The CryoLounge+ cools and warms the body through contact with the chair, so there's no changing, no wet clothes and no freezing tub. Many members use it as an alternative to an ice bath after a hard workout.
A HydroMassage® lounge chair is a dry massage chair. Heated, high-pressure water jets move beneath a waterproof surface to massage your back and body, so you stay fully clothed and dry. It's designed to help relieve sore muscles and support circulation.
Yes. Red light therapy is available at Griffin Club in Los Angeles, using an Excell Spectrum full-body red light booth. Members use it as part of their recovery and wellness routine.
Griffin Club in Los Angeles offers the POLARWAVE dry plunge, which gives the full-body feeling of a cold plunge with no water required. Other Bay Club Recovery centers offer cold therapy through the CryoLounge+ chair.
Most healthy adults can use recovery equipment, but it isn't right for everyone. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, circulation problems, a recent injury or another medical condition, check with your doctor before using compression, cold, heat or red light therapy. Let a Bay Club associate know about any concerns before your session.
Your workout clothes are fine for all Recovery center equipment. HydroMassage® and CryoLounge+ sessions keep you dry, and NormaTec boots go on over leggings or shorts. Please remove your shoes when using the equipment.
